Somehow it slipped my mind to post this, so I’m sorry this news is just getting out (if you haven’t heard it anywhere else). Mayer Hawthorne is working on his next album, Where Does This Door Go, due out July 16 via Republic Records. We have heard that production will features the likes of Pharrell Williams, Jack Splash, and Oak (of Oak & Pop). Along with that, Hawthrone says the album will sound like “Steely Dan meets the Beastie Boys.” Now a mesh of all that sounds like a pretty interesting album, and knowing Hawthorne, he’ll pull it off better than we’re expecting. The only disappointing thing in all of this is that it means we probably won’t be hearing any more new Tuxedo until after July 16th (if that is really him).
Yesterday, he released a track (maybe just half the track due to the length) that seems to be the title track and you can check it out in the video below (that features movie clips from Being John Malkovich to Alice in Wonderland where they are all opening doors).
